A wind turbine is a piece of machinery that converts energy from the wind into electricity. It can be large or small. Really, wind turbines have been around for hundreds of years in one form or another – before electricity, windmills would use the wind to turn farm machinery or other equipment. The earliest windmills found so far were in Persia from the 6th century! Modern versions have a generator to convert the movement into electricity.
